The American Friends of Museums in Israel’s Annual Cocktail Reception, Art & Dinner was held at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel. The intimate evening allowed guests to enjoy viewing a special edition by Yue Minjun, recipient of the "Outstanding Achievements in the Contemporary Arts" award, as well as other works while sipping cocktails and mingling in the Library. Yue Minjun has exhibited internationally participating in numerous museum shows, as well as major exhibition events, including the Gwangju Biennale and Shanghai Biennale, both in 2004. His work features in the collections of the CP Art Foundation, Indonesia; the Cheng Du Shang He Museum, China; the Guang Dong Art Museum, China; the Shen Zhen Art Museum, China; the Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, USA; the Museum of Architecture, Chicago, USA; the Denver Art Museum, USA; the Francois. Mitterrand Cultural Center, France; and the Busan Museum of Art, Korea.

After the Cocktail Reception, a three-course dinner was served in the Drawing Room with welcoming remarks by David Genser, Chairman, followed by key-note speaker Ann-Marie Richard, Director, New York Sotheby’s Institute of Art, who spoke about “The State of the Art Market”. Special guest, Eilat Lieber, Director and Chief Curator of the Tower of David Jerusalem Museum, a partner museum, concluded the presentations with a description on the progress on the museums’ $50 million renewal and conservation project and welcomed all to join at their re-opening in March 2023.

The private evening helps to support important work the American Friends does including recognizing, promoting, and honoring our outstanding partner museums in Israel by providing exhibition, program, project and financial support through the generosity of our donors. Our widely diverse eight partner museums in Israel include Design Museum Holon; Haifa City Museum, Haifa Museum of Art, Hermann Struck Museum, Mané-Katz Museum, the National Maritime Museum and the Tikotin Museum of Japanese Art; and the Tower of David Jerusalem Museum.
